After more than six weeks of training, I still haven't reached domestic diva-hood.
My mom stayed with me this weekend, and it was her introduction to the new pad. She seemed impressed with the place. I wasn't surprised. It's packed full of character.
Her arrival was an event. I cleaned. I paced the place to make sure everything was in top shape. I lit candles.
But we diva trainees are not perfect. Before she left, she gave me new bathroom rugs. The chocolate ones, she said, showed every little towel particle and toothpaste dropping (gosh, that sounds gross). So now, my bathroom features khaki rugs that don't quite compliment my khaki shower curtain as well as the chocolate ones do. I've chosen function over style.
This diva still has a lot to learn.
